Pointing Work
or
Flexible Mortar

Pointing is the finishing layer of mortar applied along the edges of ridge caps and gable ends on tiled roofs. Over time, traditional mortar can crack, become brittle, or detach due to weather exposure, roof movement, or general aging which can lead to water ingress or tiles shifting out of place. M.J.S. Roof and House Maintenance use high-performance Flexible Mortar to carry out all our repointing work, ensuring durability, flexibility, and weather resistance.
Unlike old-style cement-based pointing, flexible mortar is designed to move with the roof, reducing the risk of future cracking. It provides a strong bond between ridge caps and tiles while sealing the joins to keep moisture and wind out. Whether it’s a full repointing job or just targeted repairs, we ensure a clean, precise finish that both protects and enhances your roof.
Pointing is often the final stage of a roof restoration or tile replacement project and when done properly, it plays a crucial role in both the performance and appearance of your roofing system.
